Since it’s a leaf shutter based camera system, flash sync is available at all speeds. A lens- or leaf-shutter camera, the SQ-series will synchronize flash at all available. The batteries supply power for the various electronic control mechanisms and motor drive mechanisms incorporated in the Zenza Bronica SQ-Am. Pressing the shutter button at this time will result in a double exposure. The sound means the shutter is wound, but the film is not advanced yet. When winding the shutter, please be sure to keep turning the crank until it stops, even if you hear a sound half way. The sync connector is located on the front of the camera by the lens mount. The same operation will close the back cover when the film back is detached from the main body. To cock shutter and advance film, turn crank clockwise until it stops. and '500' is 1/500 sec., but no intermediate setting between click stops are possible. For examples, '8S' is 8 sec., '2S' is 2 sec.

They are not compatible with the older series of focal plane shutter cameras. Similar to the 6×4.5 based ETR series that came before it, the SQ uses a leaf shutter based lens design. The SQ is the first camera in this series and replaced the Bronica EC as their new 6×6 format camera. The Bronica SQ series is a line of 6×6 medium format SLR camera system introduced in 1980. plus T with the focusing helicoid built-in to each lens. The drive ran at two frames every three seconds, with the batteries lasting for approximately 60 rolls of 120. The lens system has a Seiko manufactured electronic shutter with a speed of 8 sec. The SQ-Am used six AA batteries to drive the motor, in addition to the a small 6 volt battery to power the camera's shutter and meter. No oil on the shutter or aperture blades. To make a reliable motor-driven SQ, therefore, the motor was incorporated into the body of the SQ-Am. No fungus, no scratches and normal dust inclusions in the lens. The aperture is a little more stiff than normal but still easy to use. The Zenzanon S 80mm f2.8 has almost no signs of use. The film back is pretty clean from inside and has new light seals. The camera is tested with film by quiet.fearness. The mechanics and electronics have been checked. I'd rather not send it out to get it a CLA since that'll cost more than a new lens or body.Cleaned 6×6 medium format camera in, tested and fully working condition.
I had read online that its good to use a silver oxide battery but when my camera worked it used a lithium battery. But there is a red light that appears on the bottom right of the viewfinder showing that the battery is making contact.I tried two methods to check if its a problem with the lens or body and they're both working properly. It appears to be firing on a consistent shutter speed and the aperture does close properly. But I bought a new battery for it and the shutter still doesn't work properly. I thought the battery might of died and it was running on the mechanical 1/500th. Since I had already ran a few rolls through it and even checked the shutter when I first got it. Now the shutter speed wont physically change no matter what speed the dial is at. It had been working fine till a couple days ago that I noticed. I bought a bronica etrs about a month ago.
